I’ve just returned from another of my occasional test drives courtesy of my buddy over at Nationwide Vehicle Contracts. This week he took me out in a Subaru Tribeca - currently available on a car leasing contract for £179.95 per month, plus VAT of course.

This four wheel drive car would set you back something in the region of £30,000 if you bought one outright. On the plus side, it has some excellent safety features, including child seat mounting points, curtain airbags and stability control. Its also a highly secure 4WD with deadlocks and an engine immobiliser.

On the negative side I did find the ride to be a little lumpy on uneven road surfaces, but this improved on the open road. The suspension appeared to be quite noisy on particularly uneven roads so I’d be interested to see how it behaved off road.

All in all the Subaru Tribeca looks like an ideal large family car for those who need a lot of passenger space for long drives into Europe or holidays in the highlands. It feels like a very sturdy, robust vehicle that should comfortably withstand the day to day wear and tear of a busy family car.
