I enjoy a good cup of tea but is it really possible to make a good one in a mug with a tea bag? Most tea-drinkers would agree that the best tea is served from a tea pot in a tea cup. Here are some basic instructions for making a perfect cup of tea (with thanks to George Orwell):A teapot is essential for the perfect cup of tea

    1. Use only Tea from India or Sri Lanka (Ceylon). Not from China.
    2. Use a ceramic teapot
    3. Always warm the pot. This helps the brewing process by keeping the temperature higher for longer.
    4. Add around 6 tea-spoons of tea per litre of water for a strong cup (tea should always be served strong).
    5. Fill the kettle with fresh water and bring it to the boil. This maintains the oxygen content of the water.
    6. Take the teapot to the kettle and pour the boiling water over the tea in the teapot.
    7. Allow the tea to brew for at least 3 to 5 minutes with a least one stir during the brewing process.
    8. Pour the tea from the teapot into clean, ceramic tea cups. Purists do not use tea strainers.
    9. Lastly, add a small amount of milk.
    10. Do not add sugar!.

Follow these instructions and then sit back and enjoy the fruits of your tea making efforts!
