Christmas is the time for giving and giving is far more enjoyable than receiving - isn’t it?

I always struggle at this time of year to find gifts for my family which they will actually like, rather than bury in the bottom drawer. My granny has always been a problem for me. DVDs are definitely out, books have been a problem ever since her eyesite went and she definitely wouldn’t want a Nintendo Wii.

Last year I struck granny-present gold when I discovered table lamps. Not the sort of thing I’d have in my ultra-modern, minimalist flat. But my granny loves them. Every room in her house has at least one. So I shall be playing it dead safe again this year and selecting a table lamp in a design that she doesn’t have and hope that the excitement doesn’t kill her.
