Top quality, untouched or tarnished original antique mirrors from the 18th and 19th centuries are becoming increasingly difficult to find. To meet the ever increasing demand for these beautiful, classical decorative pieces Tony Williams Antique Mirrors (based in Leek, Staffordshire ) began to make reproduction mirrors. Many antique mirrors reproductions are made using resin, plaster, paint and a coating of what is called ‘Dutch Gold’ (a form of cheap imitation gold leaf). Tony Williams antique mirrors use original mirror designs and only the highest quality material for their reproductions. All mirror frames are made from the finest quality seasoned timber or even high quality old wood and gilding is carried out with genuine gold leaf.
The process allows the customer to choose the size and design of the mirror. They are able to specifiy the detailed decoration, scrolls, cartouches etc. ultimately resulting in a beautiful, top quality reproduction mirror that fits in perfectly with their home decor and will go on to become the antique of the future.

Modern gizmos and gadgets are definitely cool, like the ipod, plasma TVs, laptops and the like. But a lot of modern furniture is a little lacking in quality. That’s why, whenever possible, I will choose an older, antique piece of furniture over a modern piece any day.My partner and I were recently looking for a mirror to grace our living room wall above the unused fireplace. We’d shopped around at all the regular places like Ikea, Habitat and Heals but had found nothing that was particularly attractive. Then we started looking in a few antique shops and even went along to a couple of auctions. Unfortunately we didn’t find exactly what we were looking for, but a quick google search and I’d found Tony Williams Antique Mirrors. No more searching!
Tony Williams is a specialist providing nothing but top quality antique mirrors, in all shapes and sizes. He will even make an authentic reproduction mirror to exactly the size wanted.
We found a beautiful English oval gilt wall mirror from around 1875 that was exactly what we were looking for. We’d looked at a number of overmantel mirrors but settled on the oval wall mirror as we felt it was more versatile (we may be moving house quite soon). It was very interesting to compare the quality of this mirror with those we had examined in some of the high street furniture stores. Whilst the high street prices are only a fraction of the cost of the antique mirror the difference in quality is immeasurable.
